Mindful & Sustainable Travels – Wildlife & Nature Conservation

In light of my previous blog post about wild dolphin encounters,Ā I thought I’d continue with a photographic journey through Africa from my trip to Kenya and Tanzania in October 2016, which was all about wild animal encounters as well! It was one of the most incredible experiences I’d ever had: being in the African wilderness amongst many wild animals was truly a humbling experience.

Of course as many of you know, animals are the loves of my life, so being in their home and watching their natural behaviour was heaven for me… as was getting a million photos!

For those curious to know, my travels took me on a 12-day safari through Kenya and Tanzania, traveling through some of the most beautiful wilderness parks on the planet: Masai Mara, Amboseli, The Serengeti, and Ngorongoro crater just to name a few.

During the Serengeti experience, I camped out in one of the unfenced campgrounds in the middle of nowhere… to be awoken by fighting elephants, roaring lions and curious hyenas feet away from my tent! Literally a “shit-in-your-pants” kind of moment… but so so exhilarating at the same time! That place comes alive at night and it was so incredible to listen to all the commotion, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

The lion prints I found the next morning… right next to my tent!

The animals sightings were beyond my expectations: I was able to see the Big Five, as well as many more beautiful animals that live in the African Savannah, and learn more about their race for survival. It is a harsh environment out there, and unfortunately humans are their biggest threat!

Being in the presence of wild animals is always a humbling experience for me, and one I do not take for granted! Unfortunately, many of these beautiful beings are endangered, and some even close to extinction. While the numbers continue to plummet, it is my duty as an animal lover to help protect them by spreading awareness and be their voice. One way I try to do this is through my photography!

That being said, I present you with some of the images I came home with, and ones that I cherish so deeply as some of the best memories! They transport me back to those moments; and I hope they can do the same for you as well!

Please help be their voice too!

Welcome to Africa~Ā Enjoy!
